Our Story

Shortly after we were married in May of 2002 we were blessed with an incredible opportunity to move to Austria where Ian played professional basketball. Ian quickly received a phone call, a contract was faxed, and he was on the plane to Austria a week later.  Three weeks later, Beth joined him for this great adventure. Shortly after arriving there, God allowed our paths to cross with some German missionaries who took us under their wings and educated us on the Austrian people and the Austrian culture. After a few more months, we met another set of missionaries from Texas and our lives were forever changed.

The combination of these meetings and our love of the Austrian people started us on a path towards a life of serving in ministry full time in Austria. Because of the lack of evangelical churches in Austria, we found North Point Community Church on line and began attending virtually every Sunday. When we came home that summer, we had a keen awareness of the need for Austrians to come to know our Savior. Our church had greatly impacted our faith, and we became passionate about bringing this message to a country that we’d quickly grown to love. We joined our church and returned to Austria that fall, fully aware that God had a plan for our lives in Austria.

During our second year in Austria (2003), we continued to build friendships with Ian’s teammates and our neighbors as well as beginning a Bible study with a small group of believers using some of the resources from our church. When we returned to the states during that summer (2004), we had our first meeting with our church’s missions department. They were extremely encouraging and equipped us with all sorts of materials to take back with us.

In late summer of that year, Ian’s basketball career came to an unexpected end but since that time, Austria has never left our hearts. Over the past 6 years we’ve continued to ask God if going back was something He wanted us to pursue.  Although we’ve continued living our lives here in the US, we have consistently found that God really has placed a burden on our hearts for this region.  In response to this call, we have been preparing by being involved in a variety of ministry opportunities. We are excited that the time for us to go is now.
